Bringing Safe, Reliable Water Closer to the Community

The Mbora Water Project is a community water development initiative in South West Nyakach, Nyakach Sub-County, Kisumu County, established to improve access to safe and reliable water for the local community.

The project was designed to address the challenge of limited access to potable water, where community members had been relying on unprotected water sources. The planned solution combines groundwater development with renewable energy and elevated water storage.

Project Impact

The Mbora Water Project represents more than the construction of water infrastructure. It is an investment in:

  • Access to clean and safe water
  • Improved community health and hygiene
  • Reduced dependence on unprotected water sources
  • Sustainable solar-powered water supply
  • Improved livelihoods and community wellbeing
  • Reliable water storage and distribution

A Sustainable Water Supply Solution

The project comprises a borehole equipped with a solar-powered water pumping system, an elevated water storage tank and a communal water point. This integrated approach provides a practical way of abstracting groundwater, storing it and making it accessible to the community.

The project was estimated at KSh 4 million and was expected to benefit approximately 350 households upon completion.

AQUAVIEW’s Role

  • Supply and installation of a Dayliff DS8-25 4kW pump end with a DSM 4kW three-phase submersible motor.
  • Supply and installation of 18 × 200W monocrystalline solar panels.
  • Installation of a Dayliff SVB2 3.7kW Sunverter solar inverter and disconnect switch.
  • Installation of submersible and underground cables, riser pipes and mounting structures.
  • Installation of a water meter and float switch for flow monitoring and water-level control.
